Shiho K. Rice was born and raised in Kanagawa, Japan.
From a very young age, she has been interested in observation and creative visual storytelling.
When she was 15, she moved to Canada by herself, and attended to the boarding school in Québec. This is when she began to paint and give life to her imagination.
After graduating from high school, Shiho studied Fine Arts in Toronto for a couple of years, and transferred to study Theatre and Fine Arts in New York City.

After living in the NYC for 7 years, she moved to Washington D.C. where she found Kiri-é (paper cutting) as her art medium in which a single piece of paper is cut by hand. Now, she resides in upstate NY. Her artwork has been shown in Japan, Canada, and across the US. Her recent commissioned works are displayed at the Ritz-Carlton Residences in Portland Oregon. As an illustrator, she has published two coloring books, designed for LINE stamps and Japanese zodiac themed calendars annually. She loves adventure both in her imagination and in her real life. She enjoys every part of creating her imaginative world. The process of creating each piece slowly reveals a different flavor of her original drawings and imagination.
